My Song For You

Released: 2021

“My Song For You” offers a unique compilation of engaging musical portraits. From tender acoustic ballads, to clever pop arrangements and groove-driven tracks, the songs flow together seamlessly thanks to the narrative theme and Bruce’s honest vocal renditions. Bruce also handled the majority of arranging and played all instruments on half of the songs. His musical influences are fun to pick out too, with nods to Paul McCartney and Motown artists throughout the project. CLICK HERE to download the free lyric book.

Bruce Stacey 17-21

Released: 2022

17-23 is a time capsule of Bruce’s earliest compositions and recordings made between 1971 and 1977. Five of the eight tracks were recorded entirely by Bruce on a consumer reel to reel tape deck running at 7 1⁄2 i.p.s. The balance of the songs represent Bruce’s earliest studio recordings, including “Everyday” which was released as a single and enjoyed radio play in Ontario. Bruce considered the songs working tracks or demo’s and so the majority were only shared on audio cassette with high school friends at the time. The cover art for the album is a self-portrait sketch that Bruce painted in 1975 at 21 years of age. Fresh and energizing, the songs capture a fascinating period of the artist and his budding gifts as a composer and producer.

SPRING 2024 UPDATE

A Work In Progress

Welcome 2024! It has been 10 months since Elaine and I made our permanent move to Prince Edward Island. With completion of my new studio workspace still a couple of months away, it’s been a time of settling-in, family visits, new home-design decisions and making island friends. We’ve also been happily adjusting to the relaxed pace and coastal culture that this beautiful province offers.

A Creative Break

There have been moments during recent months when I’ve thought I might be going through an artistic dry-spell of sorts, as I’ve not been composing or creating much of late. However, upon reflection I can say that’s not the case, I’ve just been busy with other stuff. This move has been a different part of the journey (and one that I’m rather enjoying!)

I’m also adjusting to this concept of retirement – that widely coveted state that family and friends insist I am now in. I’ve (thankfully) never had a retirement date on my calendar, or a corporate pension of any description to look forward too… so hopefully I can be forgiven for any lapse in protocol in this regard.

The Creative Life

This is a challenging time for independent composers and artists. Original music is increasingly difficult to monetize for musical artists with thousands of new songs added daily to streaming services, millions of titles on-line, and large music companies with big budgets dominating the social space. Platform algorithms push sponsored, AI-driven playlists and social media shoves endless commercial promotions our way, making the discovery of interesting music on line like searching for sea glass on the beach. However you’ve come across me and my music, I’m grateful!

On a personal song-writing note, I intend to add some new compositions to the My Song For You collection of songs with a new EP next year along with plans for a Christmas: Past, Present and Future project. Don’t be surprised to hear some east-coast influence in some of these future recordings. There are some fine players on the island and I’m looking forward to new musical adventures and friendships.
